Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a global health issue with a rising prevalence, particularly in Indonesia. This disease is strongly influenced by lifestyle factors, including diet, physical activity, and other habits. This study aimed to determine the relationship between public knowledge of T2DM and their lifestyle in Bangkinang Subdistrict, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. This research used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 217 respondents selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the chi-square test. The results showed that out of 217 respondents, 131 (60.4%) had low knowledge, yet 154 (71.0%) had a healthy lifestyle. Bivariate analysis revealed no significant relationship between knowledge of T2DM and lifestyle. These findings suggest that other factors, such as social environment, economic status, and health policies—may have a greater influence on lifestyle than knowledge alone. Further research is needed to identify other factors that affect public lifestyle choices in the prevention and management of T2DM.
