Abstract

Health cadres play a vital role in preventing non-communicable diseases, such as diabetes, within communities. This is due to their ability to carry out health promotion and education related to diabetes mellitus (DM). This study aimed to describe the knowledge of Non-Communicable Disease Integrated Development Post (Posbindu PTM) cadres regarding Type 2 DM (T2DM) in the working area of the Air Tiris Public Health Center (UPT Puskesmas), Kampar Subdistrict, Kampar Regency, Riau Province, Indonesia. This research used a quantitative descriptive design. The study was conducted from October 17, 2024, to March 20, 2025, in the working area of UPT Puskesmas Air Tiris. The subjects were all 72 registered Posbindu PTM cadres in the area, selected using a total sampling technique. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis. The results showed that the majority (58.3%) of the 72 Posbindu PTM cadres had a low level of knowledge regarding T2DM. These findings highlight the importance of regular training for Posbindu PTM cadres to help reduce the prevalence of DM in Kampar in the future.
