Diabetes Mellitus (DM) has become a major contributor to the rising mortality rate from non-communicable diseases. In 2021, Indonesia ranked fifth globally in the number of people with DM. Nursing students play a crucial role in assisting the community with DM prevention and management. This study aimed to describe the knowledge of undergraduate nursing students about T2DM at Universitas Pahlawan Tuanku Tambusai, Bangkinang, Riau, Indonesia. This research employed a quantitative cross-sectional design. A total of 50 respondents were selected using a simple random sampling technique. A researcher-developed questionnaire, tested for validity and reliability, was used for data collection. The validity test was conducted on July 16, 2024, among 20% of the total sample with similar characteristics to the study population. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis and presented as a frequency distribution. The results showed that 44% of students had insufficient knowledge about T2DM, 34% had moderate knowledge, and 22% had good knowledge. These findings highlight the need for enhanced diabetes education among nursing students to improve their competency in DM prevention and management.
